CommentsI do believe Danny leaned on the flurry of notes for the crowd's sake. If you play at a certain plateau very long, people eventually want more, and ten pounds of doo-doo in a five pound bag, however meaningless, usually brings the audience alive. But I do understand what you're saying. I've heard Danny flip the switch on his guitar and play some neat and well phrased jazz solos but showmanship and overstatement played a large part in keeping his audience. Brings to mind some live dates I played with Jimmy Bryant. We didn't draw but a few musicians and stragglers, and the stragglers left because all we did was play. It's cold out there.
