I found little I wanted to change in the last EMCI guitars except the beveled neck at the bridge end, and that was because it wouldn't allow tuners for the split tuning system. I achieved the same thing by using an extra rod, but I would rather have had the hole for additional pulls. I wasn't entirely happy with their welding the bridge to the neck on the later models, but it went a long way in stabilizing the tuning as well as the sound. I have no particular suggestions regarding the welded frame. It's was a great idea and should give you a solid foundation for a good guitar.
