Alan: Having written Blue Jade would have something to do with the way I feel when I play it. The melody was inspired by a country I was fascinated with and never had the opportunity to visit. Since then, I've been to Japan twice and it was everything I had hoped it to be. Over the Rainbow and Once Upon a Time in the West are two more melodies that move me emotionally when I listen to them. I suppose whatever feeling I put into a song is the desire to pass my emotional attachment to the melody on to the listener. Carlisle does strike a familiar note. I doubt if I'll ever get back to England but the people, castles, and countryside has left me with some wonderful memories. On one particular tour, we ran up and down the same road so many times, we started given names to the sheep we recognized.
