Probably because the C6 is a little brighter and allows more latitude or range for pedal setups. I like the A6 sound because the notes are thicker in the middle of the tuning but setting the pedal changes around a low A root would darken the chords too much on the bottom end. Single notes sound fatter on A6th and chords sound cleaner on the E6th so the ideal compromise is C.
