Doing just fine, Robert. The general rule seems to be just enough space to slide a quarter under the strings. From a tone standpoint, the closer you get to the strings, the more response you'll have on the high end and the farther away, the softer theoverall sound, or less "bark." I've gotten a slight distortion from putting higher level pickups too close but most work at the quarter spacing.
