Ah ha! First fret! For years I wondered about the 4 chord on the 4th chorus and how the lower A note remained constant with the thumb stroke while the upper A note descended chromatically. I just sat down at the guitar and it worked like a charm. Duh!! It was always right there, I just didn't have my head in that place.
